Art Car Museum

The Art Car Museum is a private institution dedicated to contemporary art. It is an exhibition forum for local,national and international artists with an emphasis on art cars, other fine arts and artists that are rarely, if ever, acknowledged by other cultural institutions. The museum’s goal is to encourage the public’s awareness of the cultural, political, economic and personal dimensions of art. The Art Car Museum, or “Garage Mahal” as many know it, opened in February 1998. It was founded as a not-for-profit arts organization by Ann Harithas, artist and long-time supporter of the Art Car movement, and James Harithas, currently Director of the Station Museum of Contemporary Art, Houston, Texas.

OPENING – April 27, 2019, 7 – 10 pm

Ann and James Harithas are pleased to announce the opening of: THEN and NOW

The longevity of a core group of artists, starting in the 80’s at U. of H. Lawndale, is the impetus for this show THEN and NOW.

The LU group is unified by 40 years of friendship and art.

This unique opportunity for an overview of 4 decades of work, with 2-3 pieces from each artist, will show their evolution of vision.

The Opening Night event takes place on April 27, 2019 from 7 – 10 pm, at the Art Car Museum, 140 Heights Boulevard. On view until August 25, 2019.

Free parking has been arranged by the museum at the Multi-Service Center, just north of the museum. Follow the signs.
